Reset your password yourself
Microsoft 365 lets you create a new password on your own, even outside business hours. The feature is called self-service password reset (SSPR) and is available at aka.ms/sspr.
Register a verification method first
You need to have registered at least one way to verify yourself before you need it: a mobile number, another email address or the Authenticator app. You do that at aka.ms/ssprsetup while you can still sign in.
How to create a new password
- Go to aka.ms/sspr on a PC, phone or tablet.
- Enter your work email address and the characters in the picture, and click Next.
- Choose how you want to verify yourself: approval in the Authenticator app, a code by SMS or a code by email.
- Verify with the method you chose.
- Enter the new password twice and click Finish.
- Sign in with the new password in Outlook, Teams and the other apps.
Choose a good password
- At least twelve characters. A passphrase of three random words is easy to remember and hard to guess, for example “Fjord-Rainbow-Coffee2026!”.
- Don't use names, birth dates or common words on their own.
- Don't reuse passwords from other services, and don't share yours with anyone.

Stuck?
- No registered method: we'll reset the password for you. Register a method at aka.ms/ssprsetup afterwards.
- New mobile number: update the method at aka.ms/mfasetup while you can still sign in. If you've already lost access, contact us.
