Spam and the spam folder

All incoming email is scanned before it's delivered.

VerdictWhat happens
Clean emailDelivered to Inbox
Possible spamDelivered to Inbox, flagged in a hidden header
Probable spamMoved to the spam folder
Obvious spamRejected before it gets in, and the sender is notified

Check your spam folder regularly. No filter is perfect.

Did an important email end up there? Move it back to Inbox. The filter doesn't learn from this automatically, so if you keep getting false positives from the same sender, let us know.

Missing an email you're expecting? Check the spam folder first. If it's not there, it may have been rejected as obvious spam. The sender will then have received an error message explaining what went wrong. Ask them to check it.
