Settings for your email app
Want to use Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird or your phone? Then you need these values. They're the same for every app and every platform. Many apps find them on their own, see Automatic setup at the bottom.
Incoming email (IMAP)
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Server | imap.digiserv.no |
| Port | 993 |
| Security | SSL/TLS |
| Username | Your full email address |
| Password | Your password |
Outgoing email (SMTP)
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Server | smtp.digiserv.no |
| Port | 587 |
| Security | STARTTLS |
| Requires authentication | Yes, same username and password |
Why IMAP and not POP3?
With IMAP, your email stays on the server, and all your devices show the same thing. If you read an email on your phone, it's marked as read on your PC too. With POP3, email is downloaded to one machine and disappears from the others.
Automatic setup
Several apps find the settings on their own when you enter your email address:
- Thunderbird and classic Outlook (Outlook 2019, 2021 and Microsoft 365) look them up in the domain's DNS. The simplified wizard in new Outlook often doesn't do this for IMAP, so expect to fill them in yourself there.
- iPhone and iPad use a ready-made profile from us. See iPhone and iPad.
Try automatic setup first. You just enter your email address and password, and the rest takes care of itself. If you're still asked for server details, or get a warning that the certificate doesn't match the domain name, the DNS records for the domain probably aren't in place yet. Choose manual setup and use the values above. That always works. If it keeps happening, let the person in charge of IT at your company know. The status of DNS and automatic setup is shown in the control panel.
