New employee: checklist for managers

If your company has enabled onboarding and offboarding in the control panel, you register the new employee there. See Register a new employee. It can be enabled on request: see Onboarding and offboarding in the control panel.

Before a new employee starts, a number of IT things need to be in place. Send us the list below at support@digiserv.no at least three to five working days before the first day, and everything will be ready in time. A PC and mobile subscription can take longer, so let us know at least a week ahead for larger orders.

What we need to know

  • Full name, job title, department and mobile number.
  • Preferred email address, for example firstname.lastname@company.no.
  • Start date, and who their immediate manager is.
  • Which systems and access the employee needs.
  • Whether the employee should have a PC, mobile phone or tablet, and any accessories such as a laptop bag or backpack.

What we do

Account and email: create the Microsoft 365 account with the right license, turn on MFA, add the employee to the right distribution groups and shared mailboxes, and enroll them in security awareness training if you have it from us.

PC and equipment: set up the PC with Microsoft 365, a browser and VPN, connect it to the company network and the printers, and register the device in Intune if you use it.

Mobile: order and activate the subscription, set up email on the phone and install Microsoft Authenticator.

Access: SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams channels, file server, business systems such as CRM and ERP, VPN for working from home, and Wi-Fi at the office.

What you do yourself

  • Send a welcome email with sign-in details.
  • Tell your colleagues about the new hire in Teams.
  • Feel free to book a short IT introduction with us, 15 minutes or half an hour.

After the first week

Check that email, PC, mobile and access are working, and that MFA is set up. Let us know if anything is missing.
