Windows Home at work

Windows comes in two editions for ordinary PCs: Home and Pro. Many machines are sold with Home because it's cheaper, and it's fine for personal use. At work, it's too limited.

What's the problem?

Windows Home can't be joined to Microsoft Entra ID, your company's sign-in and device management in Microsoft 365. Without it, IT can't:

  • Set up the PC automatically. It has to be prepared by hand.
  • Manage security centrally: encryption, lock screen and password requirements.
  • Let you sign in with your work account instead of a local account.
  • Keep Windows up to date centrally.
  • Wipe the PC remotely if it's stolen or lost.

Check which edition you have

Press the Windows key, type “About your PC” and open it. Under Windows specifications it says “Windows 11 Home” or “Windows 11 Pro”. If it says Home, you should upgrade.

Upgrade to Pro

The upgrade is done without reinstalling Windows. All you need is a Pro license key. We sell upgrade keys and enter them for you. Your files and programs stay where they are.
